RESEARCH AND INNOVATION
The cornerstones of our daily practices
Rio Olympics have clearly demonstrated the contribution of science and innovation on sport performance of elite athletes. We at FintessMedico believe that research and innovation are fundamental in elite athletic performance. For this reason, we have decided to team up with Dr. Zarko Krkeljas from Stellenbosch University in South Africa, to provide latest scientific evidence on evaluation, treatment of sport injuries, and athletic performance. Through this collaboration FitnessMedico will be the only facility in the country to provide a multidisciplinary approach to sport performance with the primary goal of allowing our clients to reach their full potential in the shortest time possible.
Currently, our own Mr. Kovac and Dr. Krkeljas are collaborating on a project investigating evaluation and prevention strategies of ACL injuries. This key study aims to identify functional movement deficiencies that may lead to ACL injuries in athletes.
Another clinical study is looking into movement deficiencies that lead to low back pain in active population and athletes. Through this study we hope to gain insight in the relationship between movement biomechanics, functional evaluation, and training strategies.
Through our research model we will blend research and clinical practice and allow students to conduct their practical experience in our clinic, and encourage our staff to pursue advanced degrees.
